The whole student journey

From first inquiry to first gift.

Retention is the measure that matters. Keeping a student starts with knowing them, long before the first week of class. Socio Connect keeps one record for each student, from their first visit day to their first gift as an alum, and the Assistant tells your staff who’s drifting and why.

Now taking founding colleges for spring 2027, with 50% off the launch fee and a direct hand in shaping the product.

Visit day

Maya RSVP’d and checked in at Saturday’s visit day.

Needs you this week

Owen came every week in September and hasn’t been in since.

First gift

An alum made her first gift to the nursing campaign.✦ Thank-you drafted

The problem

Retention breaks in the gaps between offices.

A student rarely leaves for one reason on one day. The signs show up in different systems owned by different people: a hold on the account, a quiet week in class, three missed chapels, an RA who noticed they eat alone. Each office sees one sign and decides it isn’t enough to act on. Nobody sees all of them.

  • Admissions has the inquiry.
  • The registrar has enrollment.
  • Faculty have the gradebook.
  • Chapel has the scans.
  • Student life has the RA’s notes.
  • Advancement has the gift.

The same gaps cost you at both ends. Admitted students who never connect before August melt away over the summer. Graduates leave with no relationship beyond a diploma.

About 31%

of first-year students don’t return to the school they started at.

Source: National Student Clearinghouse Research Center, fall 2024 starting cohort: 69.1% retained at the same institution.

24%

Belonging now ties with cost as a reason students consider stopping out, at 24% each.

Eight stages, one record

Follow Maya from her first visit to her first gift.

For your team

One student. A view for every office.

Each office will see the same student through a view shaped to its job, and only what it has a reason to see. Department views are being built with our founding colleges, starting with five: Student Life, Chapel, Advising, Admissions and Advancement. Each tab also shows what that office can use today.

Beside the systems you already run

Your systems stay the records.

Your admissions CRM, student information system, learning system and advancement database keep doing their jobs. Socio Connect is where students spend time with your college, and where their signals come together on one record. Colleges already run systems such as Slate, Jenzabar and Canvas; we’ll ask which ones you run.

How we connect, in order

  1. 1

    A spreadsheet import

Import your students from a spreadsheet and invite them. This is how a launch starts today.

    Live today
  2. 2

    A nightly file

A nightly file your IT team already knows how to send. Every one of these systems can export a scheduled file, so a founding college can start in the launch semester without waiting on vendor approvals.

    Being built with founding colleges
  3. 3

    Single sign-on

Students sign in with their campus login. It’s built, and being switched on with our first college.

    Being built with founding colleges
  4. 4

    Direct connections

Chosen with our founding colleges, by what they actually run.

    On the roadmap

Signals, not files.

We bring in “has a hold”, not the ledger. “Midterm alert in one course”, not the gradebook. Gift history and wealth data stay in your advancement database. Less data in means less to protect and an easier security review.

Why students open it

Students won’t use an app because the college wants data.

They’ll use it if it’s the most useful thing on their phone about college life, and if everything it asks of them gives them something back.

  1. 1

    It’s required, and easier

Chapel check-in, orientation steps and required events, in one place on their phone.

Trust

Seeing more means protecting more.

Following a student across offices only works if students and staff trust what happens to their information.

Security and FERPA

A view for each role

Each office sees what its job needs. Faculty see “talk to Student Accounts”, not the balance. Advancement never sees care notes.

Being built with founding colleges

Students see what staff see

A plain page in the app shows each student the kinds of information on their record and who can see each one.

Being built with founding colleges

Prospects are different

Many are minors and aren’t students yet. Prospect records collect less, come from forms they filled in, and are kept on a schedule your college sets.

Being built with founding colleges

Signals, not files

We bring in “has a hold”, not the ledger, and “midterm alert”, not the gradebook. Less data in means less to protect.

Counseling and health records stay out

They stay out of Socio Connect entirely.

Live today

How we protect records now.

  • Each college’s data kept separate from every other organization’s
  • Owners, admins, group leaders, members and guests, each seeing only what their role allows
  • Two-step sign-in, and a record your admins can see whenever our staff view your data
  • Never sold, never used for advertising, never used to train AI
  • A full export whenever you ask
