I understand why that looks like a contradiction. Here's why it isn't.

Why We Built a Subscription at All

Not every organisation is ready to own on day one.

A church with 200 active members and a $3,000/month budget doesn't need a custom build. A creator launching their first paid community doesn't need to invest $45,000 in platform ownership before they know what their community actually needs. A nonprofit testing a new engagement model shouldn't be locked into a major infrastructure investment before they've proven the model.

We know this. We've talked to hundreds of organisations at exactly these stages.

The subscription path exists because the need for owned community infrastructure doesn't start at the ownership stage. It starts at the beginning. And meeting organisations where they are — before they're ready to own — means having a path for them.

What Makes Our Subscription Different

Every organisation that builds with us on the subscription path is building toward ownership.

What changes: the code, the hosting, the fee structure. After the custom build is delivered, you own the codebase and run it on infrastructure you control. No monthly platform fee.

What doesn't change: your community. Your members, your content, your community history, your engagement data — all of it moves to the new platform. You're not starting over. You're graduating.
